About Me

Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m a birth and postnatal doula living North London.

Let’s start at the very beginning…growing up, my mum was a gynaecologist, so my childhood was full of stories of women and babies, and on weekends and school holidays I’d spend a lot of time in the hospital surrounded by it all; no surprise then that I wanted to be a doctor or a midwife as a teenager. I’d always been obsessed with the human body and mind, studying biology, chemistry and psychology A-levels, but sadly not getting the grades to get into medical school (blame a 17 year old me distracted by boys!). Instead I followed my other skill, super organisation, and became a Executive Assistant in London to high flying CEO’s of big property, finance and fashion companies. I supported them personally as well as through their businesses and always loved the private support more, assisting with their homes, families and daily schedules.

After 15 years in these roles, I felt like something was missing and I wasn’t doing a job that was the real ‘me’. I decided to leave the city job, overhaul my life, and discover what I really wanted to do. Over the next few years I began training as a psychodynamic counsellor, travelled Europe & SE Asia, went to India to do my yoga teacher training, studied massage and herbal medicine in Bali and spent a year living in Australia (yes I know, typical Eat, Pray, Love).

Along the way, someone mentioned doulas to me and I realised this was the job for me! A role where I could bring together all the things I love and am passionate about, supporting and empowering women, helping families emotionally and physically and creating amazing community support systems around them.

In 2023 I completed my Doula training course with Nurturing Birth, and in 2024 started a hypnobirthing course with The Calm Birth School. I am registered with Doula UK for both birth and postnatal work.

Within the birth space I’m extremely interested in perinatal care within different cultures, homeopathic & herbal medicines, nutrition, childhood development, and parental mental health. I’m also passionate about reducing the numbers of unnecessary inductions and caesareans within the birth system, and exploring all the ways we can do this (hiring a doula being the main one!).

As a doula I’m here to support you through whatever type of birth YOU want, empowering you to make your own decisions and feel ready to take on whatever your birth will bring. I fully believe your body is more capable than you could ever imagine, and I’m here to help you realise that.

Postnatally I really focus on ‘mothering the mother’ - when all eyes have suddenly gone to the baby, I’ll be there to make sure you are getting looked after, with proper nutrition, rest, massage, a tidy house, and someone there to cry and laugh with along the way.

If this sounds like the care you’re looking for, please get in touch - I can’t wait to meet you.

  • Having Sarah around after the birth of my first son was like having a security blanket. It was so reassuring to have someone knowledgeable by my side to help build my confidence all while creating a calm and peaceful environment. Sarah did everything from troubleshooting problems with me, to changing & washing my bedding! She’s someone I found a deep connection with and I will forever be thankful to have had her by my side.
